Giving Hearts Day Surpasses $30 Million Mark for First Time
FARGO – It was a record-breaking Giving Hearts Day, a fundraising event benefitting 619 charities throughout North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. Unaudited figures indicate that charities raised a preliminary figure of $31,477,527 — approximately $2.1 million more than last year — from 40,210 donors.
A total of 86,676 donations were made. Giving Hearts Day charities have now raised more than $225 million since the event’s inception in 2008. Official giving statistics and details will be released after all data is verified.
Six charities raised more than $1 million this year:
- YWCA Cass Clay
- New Life Center
- Farm Rescue
- Oak Grove Lutheran School
- Hospice of the Red River Valley
- University of North Dakota Alumni Association & Foundation
Donors also had the opportunity to record a food or goods donation at one of 159 drop-off locations throughout the region and to record an act of service during the Giving Hearts Day season (Jan. 13 – Feb. 13). In total, 884 acts of service were reported and pledged.
Below are some of the notable winners of Giving Hearts Day boost dollars and Golden Tickets:
- $20,000 winner of Golden Ticket from DMF: Dream Center Bismarck
- $20,000 winner of Golden Ticket from Alex Stern Family Foundation: Soul Solutions Recovery Center
- $10,000 winner of Golden Ticket from Gate City Bank: GiGi’s Playhouse
- $5,000 winner of Bell Bank Social Challenge: Red River AMBUCS
- $5,000 winner of Bell Bank Social Challenge: Unity Medical Center Foundation
