Greetings, friends of Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF):

We recently learned of a controversial event that was scheduled to take place at DMF next Monday, Dec. 13. Per the facility-use application that the event hosts completed, the nature of the meeting was described as “public health awareness.” Unknown to us at the time it was scheduled by the Midwest Public Health Coalition (MPHC), the event was later marketed with the title “Poisoning America’s Children! Vaccine Exemptions & You.” 

As part of the event invitation to the public, DMF’s name was used, which created the appearance that the Foundation was endorsing or supporting this event in some way. This was never the case. After receiving numerous inquiries as to why DMF would be hosting this type of event, the Foundation determined it was in the best interest of all parties for MPHC to relocate the event to a different venue. 

DMF is re-assessing our building guidelines to ensure that we continue to be a welcoming gathering space for the region’s nonprofits while reducing potential distractions to the mission and daily operations of the Foundation.
