American Hospital Association Board Governance Function Tool
AHA's free survey tool is for healthcare organizations focused on board leadership issues. Related survey questions include board member skills and values, clarity of board roles and responsibilities, board understanding of organization's role relative to others in the community, board access to information related to its fiduciary role, and board access to organizational performance indicators. Survey questions can provide a quick overview of healthcare board leadership as a whole and for individual board members. A summary of responses from over 2,000 healthcare organizations serves as a helpful benchmark to identifying priority issues for more in-depth review. For well-established nonprofit healthcare organizations and hospitals in particular; survey questions are also appropriate for smaller and larger organizations.
